Dear friends,

Early in the week Peace and Shadrach travelled to Don Bosco in Bombo, to pay the vocational training fees for Big Brian and to meet with the staff and Brian. They said it was a helpful meeting. Asaph will begin work at the carpentry training centre in Nsambya, and is happy about that. Peace and Shadrach visited Patrick on Tuesday as he had a few problems but hopefully, these will be resolved soon. Kodet is back at Maranatha school – we have settled his school and examination fees. The schools are only open for final year students and he is now going into P7, he has to attend another school to take the exam – I haven’t really grasped why this is!

‘Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.’ 1 Peter 4:10

I would appreciate your prayers for our work – there seems to be a lot of upset at the moment in the home, staffing issues and tension with the boys – it is difficult for me being so far away to understand all that is going on. There will be a staff meeting on Tuesday and I am suggesting that the Management Committee be invited to a meeting later in the week to see if things can run on a more even keel.

The younger boys had a wonderful time making paper mache masks, then painting and decorating them – the results as you can see are interesting and colourful! They really love their art classes with Mary.

Our accounts have to be audited in Uganda as well as in the U.K. and our accountant in Uganda is doing a very thorough job – I have really appreciated Geoff our Treasurer’s help this week in answering her queries. In Uganda we deal in millions of shillings weekly as a £1 is the equivalent of 4,785UGX today, but the exchange rate varies weekly, sometimes daily – quite a challenge when reconciling figures, unless that’s your gift!

As we face a further week of lockdown my thoughts are with many of you who are living alone. These are difficult times for all of us but we have the assurance that Jesus is with us and watching over the work of ‘Homes of Promise’ – this is His work and we give Him the Glory.

Love Jane
