Back in Uganda, prayers for Tim, Yusuf (Joseph) applying for ID, Kodet camping

Good morning friends,

I arrived back in Uganda Sunday afternoon, the plane was again delayed, after waiting an hour by the carousel my luggage thankfully turned up. Jessie was outside to meet me and we drove to George’s Place to see the boys. We didn’t stay long as I wanted to get home. Christine had kindly left me something to eat as she was out looking for a new workshop as Refuge & Hope have closed their premises.

I didn’t get to the office until Tuesday and it was good to catch up with Petra, Tresor, Precious and Peace. Everything is fine. I have spoken to Benard on the phone and visited him and the boys on Saturday. We are planning a staff meeting for Wednesday next week.

Prayers please for Tim, he is very unwell, staying in the home, not eating and very weak – we often have these episodes when I am out of the country, I have asked Benard to allow him to eat omelettes, scrambled eggs, fruit and fish, with fresh juices. As Tim’s immunity is very low he has caught malaria. It is worrying as he recently had a bacterial infection and has stopped taking his ARV’s, he doesn’t want to go to the hospital (but we have taken him to the clinic) as when they test him they will be aware he has stopped the drugs and he will receive a stern talking too from the doctors and councillors. The drugs are very strong and make him feel ill – a difficult situation. I saw him yesterday and he has lost even more weight, either Tresor or I will take him to the hospital when he is strong enough to sit for hours in Kisenyi. 🙏please.

Yusuf went this week to register for an ID card. In Kampala there is a new system in place with eye recognition, finger prints etc. it is probably going to take a couple of months to receive the card but things are definitely moving forward here.

Kodet has gone away this weekend on a youth camp run by KIC which Ian is involved in running. We were pleased that our three tents are coming in useful as we have borrowed the churches tents on several occasions. I haven’t caught up with Ian, when he returned from Fort Portal he had food poisoning and has been out of action but we have texted and he’s feeling better now. He sent a lovely photo of a young giraffe probably about two months old, that he had seen.

Tresor and Soleil called to see me on Thursday evening, Tresor is busy setting up the two new laptops I brought back with me, one for Peace and the other for Kasita, the boys in Secondary School/college really need laptops with access to the internet.

Saturday I went to see the boys and we took them swimming and to play football in the hotel grounds. It was very noisy at the pool as a DJ was playing loud music and there was obviously a celebration going on! The boys also received caps that someone had donated which they were very happy about.
