I’m in France this weekend, staying in the Lot Valley, (south of the Dordogne) a beautiful quiet place where my late husband and I spent many holidays – happy memories with very little having changed in 20 years.

The new boys at George’s Place are doing well. Peace visited them earlier in the week and spent time finding out about their backgrounds, she asked them to draw their homes – we always give them a few weeks settling in time before we think about home tracing as they need to trust us and feel secure. I spoke to most of our young boys at swimming on Saturday afternoon (only one of the new three could swim) I still haven’t worked out the new boys names! Benard was telling me one keeps changing his name – which will probably make it even more difficult. Tresor went out and bought them new underclothes, shorts and T-shirts last Monday.

I took a box for shipment on Tuesday and after talking with Ayoub the agent, he contacted the office in Kisenyi and they found the box that had gone missing last year. Tresor then went on Wednesday and collected it – less weight so obviously some things had been removed! It had been the first time in ten years that a box had got delayed, which I think is amazing, as it takes three months to get to Kisenyi from London coming via Mombasa, across Kenya to Kampala.

The office had a call from Connect Africa and Victor has been unwell, (diagnosed with ulcers – people are regularly diagnosed with ulcers in Uganda and I can only assume it’s the diet – the boys in boarding get posho and beans most days with little variation) Victor has now been put on medication and is recuperating at the college.

• Robert is back with us, he needs help in resettling in Malaba, near the Kenyan border, he had been staying with his grandmother but after a couple of weeks got himself back to us. (I’m going to suggest Tresor goes with him, some of our boys lack confidence when looking for work).
• Ronald is also still around as negotiations are going on for him obtaining an internship in a garage in Kampala – when people know the boys are from an organisation they want to charge us more, which is sad!
• Asaph has phoned and needs a carpentry plane – he has saved 50,000UGX towards this so we have donated another 50,000UGX.
• I also had a few calls from Emma but the line wasn’t clear, Tresor has spoken with him and he is fine and working well.
• Augustine sent me a message on WhatsApp checking I was having a good time!
• Tresor is visiting Johnson this Sunday as it’s his school visiting day.

Sue sent me a photo of her with Faiza having received her Catering Certificate, Sue and her friends from Exeter are also visiting Georges Place after church tomorrow.

It is not always easy for me to stand back when I’m in the UK/France but everything is running smoothly without me micromanaging!
