More rain, the four boys at Hope International receive their college reports – all A’s or A+’s, sewing machine and basketball post arrive, the boys from Don Bosco return and also Dennis and Kodet.

There has been so much rain again this week, usually it rains during the night and brightens up in the morning, this week it seems to have rained nearly all the time, I’m sure that’s an exaggeration but it’s been cool and wet!

Yesterday evening (Friday) Christine and I were invited to Heritage School to see a production of ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat.’ Two of Anke’s children were in it, also two of Monica’s and two of Margreet’s. It was so good to see these young people from church performing so well. They are all coming to our barbecue tomorrow as we say goodbye to Anke and her teenagers who are returning to the Netherlands for two years, to study. Ron her husband who is Kenyan is staying here. We shall miss her terribly at our house group.

Our boys are all fine, the three boys in Don Bosco vocational college have returned to George’s Place. Omoding who is studying hairdressing from his home town of Tororo has gone to stay with his father but will probably come to see us in a week or two. Dennis is back, also Kodet but Johnson and Kasita don’t finish school until next week.

We have bought a sewing machine for the home and Ivan has been doing the mending. Next week he’ll be making some shorts for the boys. New Brian and Derek have both gone home to their families for a visit.

On Monday we had a staff meeting, Ian led the morning session, looking at the long term succession plan – we also looked again at communication and the smooth running of the organisation. So often it feels like we are just reactive, obviously there are situations that arise that need to be dealt with – but it’s not easy when schools/colleges phone at 4.30pm to advise that they are breaking up the next day, this happened last week!

• The four boys, Ivan, Robert, Ronald and new Brian all received A+ or A in their vocational reports from Hope International.
• The younger boys have broken up from Little Angels – the boys in P5/P6 will be having extra tuition at school during the holidays. Reports will be collected next Friday.
• Tim has started making small cakes and selling them.
• Griffin (just finished first term in catering) is going to be cooking cakes on Sunday for our boys to eat.
• Silver from the local hotel asked some of our older boys to help as stewards in a fun run he had organised today, so four of them went to help. It is great for us to be accepted in the local community. The boys received sodas for everyone in lieu of payment.
• Tresor, Joseph (Yusuf) and Simon Peter collected a basketball post and the man came to cement it in.
• We have a new roof on the chicken house, chicks arriving soon!
• Victor’s cockerel was eaten!
• We took the boys swimming Saturday afternoon, I collected and returned Asaph who came for the day and Godfrey arrived as well.
• There were 23 boys for lunch.
• Benard is off this weekend but Sam from church is staying at George’s Place
• Simon Peter and Asaph took me to see a litter of puppies and it looks like we will have an addition to the home shortly! Hope Peanut will be happy about this.

It feels like a busy time and next Monday is a bank holiday – Tresor has arranged for the boys to go to the football academy in the morning and I will go and see them in the afternoon.

The boys are great fun, full of energy, love dancing, swimming, football. It’s quite busy and noisy at George’s Place, but there is an amazing atmosphere and very few squabbles. Thank you for all your support and love – you are really changing these young lads lives.
