Dear friends, It has been a really hot week and plenty of sunshine! We were in the office Monday sorting out the week’s finances.
Raymond’s mum arrived early at the office, this was an answer to prayer as we had been unable to trace her for over two years. We had left our contact details with a lady in her home village and she had been in contact with Benard and Raymond on the phone. When Tresor returned from the bank he took her to George’s Place; it was not a very successful reunion Raymond obviously has some resentment – I’m not sure how long it is since he has seen his mother, she had left him with the lady in the village before he ran to the streets. Prayers please for this situation. We have not talked with him about things yet, he has been doing really well at school this term and obtained over 90% in most subjects.
“The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world.”
John 1:9
Tuesday Peace and I went to George’s Place for the afternoon and talked about who would be visiting their relatives for the holidays. The young boys were playing football most of the time.
- Tresor collected Victor and Saviour from college and they were pleased to be home with us.
- Kodet started a Computer course on Wednesday (3 days a week for 3 months), sadly there was no power that day!
- It was also Petra’s birthday on Wednesday and we celebrated with cake – Precious worked as well to join the celebrations.
- Peace and I took Griffin to The Speke Hotel that afternoon as we felt their HR department kept finding reasons for delaying his work application, even though the chef had recommended him. We met one of the Head Chef’s who is really pleased with his work. Thankfully he has now been offered a job. We took him after the meeting for a medical examination and he was healthy. After delivering the medical report the next day Griffin and I looked for a room for him to rent – we found something he was happy with and paid for three months after which time he will be paying. He began work on Friday morning with a new uniform, being fairly well paid but not happy about the amount of tax and NSSF he has to pay!
- Thursday afternoon I went to Maranatha School for a parents meeting and to collect Joshua’s third term Report. It was a long afternoon and I didn’t get home until 6pm. His report was fine.
- Friday I visited George’s Place. Augustine is visiting for a few days.
- It was Kasita’s 18th birthday on Friday as well.
- Tim has been diagnosed with malaria and typhoid – he is staying with an aunt in the village – obviously his immune system is low and he is still on the medication for TB. Prayers please.
- Halima has been off work this week as she is unwell – some of the older boys are cooking – Saviour, Victor, Yusuf, Brian and Kodet – (possibly looking for pocket money!) Vincent will be there this weekend cooking so they get a break.
It’s busy will all the boys around but there is a good atmosphere in the home and no aggravation. Godfrey has been calling in regularly to walk Peanut and Zimba.
I’ve heard from big Dennis and Ronald this week and Tresor has spoken with Anton and Derek. I think they are probably wondering why they have not been invited to a Christmas Party – but we are saving money as next year in May will be our 10 Year Anniversary of George’s Place being opened and we will have a big party then.
Thank you for all your love, kindness and support. God blesses us in so many ways and we give Him the Glory.
Love Jane x
