It’s been a busy week, we left Kigali Sunday morning and travelled to Masaka where we stayed the night at Banda Lodge. It was a long journey but border control coming into Uganda was much easier than getting into Rwanda.
We had an amazing time at the wedding which started just after 9am, with the Introduction and we left about 8pm, celebrations and speeches were still happening. Tresor and Soleil kindly gave gifts to Ian and I which were unexpected.
Suzy seems to have been fine whilst I was away and had met up with a friend over the weekend and also went on Tuesday with Santa to visit a college in the centre of Kampala where her friend attends. I went to work Tuesday to sort out the weekly accounts with Benard and Precious and to cash a cheque from the bank for this week’s expenses.
On Wednesday, Peace, Suzy and I, Jessie driving travelled to Kayunga to visit Dan’s father and check on their new home. We met Augustine along the way and took him with us. Some finishing off needs doing to the home – the floor and the inside door frames need improving on – Augustine has done such a good job. The puppy is still there and looking fine. Shila and George were at school and Esther, her baby, Edith and Jane were in the garden. The dad arrived with Ronnie to greet us.
‘And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.’
Colossians 3 v17
Thursday Peace and I were in the office as she had a Wakiso District meeting on Friday reporting on George’s Place – good practices and challenges.
Today, Saturday Suzy and I are going to Entebbe for the church hike, meeting other church members near the ferry terminal to cross the lake. We will call in to see the boys at George’s Place tomorrow after church. The boys will be at football all morning. The younger boys broke up from school on Thursday and have to collect their report cards on the 22nd. Some of the older boys are returning from college/school this weekend and all should be back by the end of next week. Sadly Yusuf’s father passed away on Friday morning and he has travelled to Mbarara with the body for the funeral.
Peace and I are planning to visit Gulu next week to visit Dennis and his father. He wasn’t accepted for the university and we are not sure the reason why. He had plenty of time to register, we need to find out what he is planning to do! At present he is working in a petrol station.
Friday evening Christine and I went for a walk and met up with Suzy at Yellow Haven just as it started thundering and raining – we ordered some food which took two hours to prepare, it was good but it was very dark by the time we left. Suzy approached a boda guy and the three of us got on the back giving instructions about where pot holes, speed humps and dangerous bends were – we arrived home safely and our security man took our photo but omitted to take the bike!
I am really looking forward to coming back for a few weeks and meeting up with many of you. It has been a busy 10 months with many blessings. The Lord has provided in amazing ways and our work continues to develop and grow, changing the boys and their families lives.
Thank you for all your love, support and kindness. As we say in Africa – God is good – all the time – that is His nature.
Love Jane x
