Back in Uganda, no internet, the boys are all fine, very hot!
Sunday 18th January 2026
Good morning friends,
I arrived back in Uganda on Thursday afternoon and was met by Jessie, Tresor and some of the boys. They had waited a long time to meet me as it took over an hour for the baggage to be to be collected, we then travelled back to George’s Place where I saw all the other boys and Patrick who had returned from his holidays.
Friday morning I needed to go out to get some shopping stocking up with food and met up with Ian for a coffee. During the elections there is a two day bank holiday. There was very little traffic on the roads mainly police and army vehicles and army patrols walking around, later in the afternoon Ian called me (thankfully the local phones are working), to say there was lots of gun fire around Makindye. He also called on Saturday morning and suggested I stayed home as the election results will come out in the afternoon and it’s probably wisest to stay put. I will call him in the morning before going to church to check if he thinks it’s safe. The weather is really hot – it must be over 30 degrees!
“The Lord will keep you from all harm – he will watch over your life;”
Psalms 121:7
The boys are all well, Saviour is at Makindye Country Club and staying at Ian’s. Sula has an internship at a hairdressers the other side of Kampala and is staying with a friend. I haven’t heard from Griffin or Victor but presume they are busy working at The Speke Hotel in Munyonyo. All those at home are keeping themselves busy and the young ones had make cakes one afternoon. We are not allowing any of the boys who are staying with relatives in the village to travel back this week as we feel it could be dangerous if they got caught up in any troubles. I did see Big Brian, on the afternoon I returned, he was driving his boda and said he had just returned from the village as his grandmother had died, he had left his wife and son there.
It looks like I shall be having a quiet weekend, please do be praying for the people of Uganda and the political situation, there seems to be very little on the international or local news as to what is happening. Thank you for all your love, support and kindness.
With love and prayers.
Jane
