Back in Uganda, new car batteries needed, National Clean Up day. Dan goes home for the holidays. Kasita returns to school

Dear friends,

I arrived back in Uganda Friday lunchtime. Jessie was at the airport to meet me, he had been dropping off people there and was using someone else’s car, because of this we didn’t call at George’s Place and I came straight home. Santa was there to welcome me and Christine arrived back from shopping in the afternoon – she is busy packing up more of her things that she left with me, to take back to the U.S. on Monday (she’s been here two months). We had takeaway vegetarian curry for supper – delicious, we did a lot of talking (and praying).

On the last Saturday of the month the Ugandan Government has declared it to be a National ‘Clean up’ day and everyone is required to work on the streets from 7am-10am sweeping and picking up rubbish to improve public health and sanitation. Our boys and staff of course are involved, I have stayed home this morning but taxis, boda’s, cars etc. are not allowed to move as everyone should be working until after the allotted time. Jessie was telling me it began a month ago but the collection of the rubbish after the clean up had not been well organised, they are hoping that this month it might have been resolved!

The boys are all fine – I had 33 missed messages from some of them on my small Ugandan phone – I hadn’t charged it! Those on IPhones managed to keep in touch!

Tresor has told me they are going for a swim this morning, Saturday, followed by football this afternoon. Sadly the batteries in my car need replacing so I am having to go and find money from the ATM machine and then try to take it to a garage and get new ones. This is rather a priority! I did manage to start the car and drove to an ATM. All fixed by 4pm – I ordered them from the main supplier and someone came to my apartment and fitted them!

Tresor and Soleil drove Dan back to his family for the holidays and also dropped Kasita off at school in Mukono for his studies. They saw Dan’s family who have been rearing rabbits, sadly some had been attacked by their dog! They also saw George and Ronnie, the rest of the family are all keeping well. Dan looks so big in the photos – I keep mistaking him for Yusuf!

The boys enjoyed a swim at Banana Village this morning. Saidi and Musumba have been working on their holiday homework packages. A busy day for them all with cleaning, swimming and football! I will call to see them early this week.

We are planning to take the boys for a day out with a boat trip, hike and visit to Debbie and Doug’s (from church) amazing place on the other side of the lake. They come from the U.S., Doug is a builder and they have done some wonderful work in the area helping locals.

It’s good being back, seeing everyone, talking with the boys and catching up with the news. Peace was helping Victor this week to fill in application forms for work. All is well. Thank you for all your love and kindness. The Lord continues to bless and watch over our work and we give Him the Glory.
