Returning to Uganda this coming week, collecting old phones to take back, thank you to The Church of the Ascension, Wembley who raised £1,017 at their Garden Party for HoP, the older boys return from boarding school and vocational training
Sunday 23rd August 2026
Dear friends,
The boys have all returned to George’s Place from boarding school/vocational training . On Tuesday I spoke to Kasita and Denis. Kasita will be returning to school next week to revise for his ‘O’ level exams. He told me he wants to be a Civil Engineer and hopes to do his ‘A’ levels and then go to university! Musumba was also at home last weekend but has returned to school to revise for his ‘O’ levels as well.
Ian visited the boys on Friday and Peace and Petra visited on Thursday – everyone is fine, though some of the boys don’t look too happy in the photos! Tresor and Benard have been taking the boys each afternoon to play football locally. Kodet messaged me to say he is back home with his family from Vocational training and helping with digging. Saidi, Joshua and Brian have all returned to George’s Place. Brian has been for a hearing test at the hospital and needs a hearing aid, they have quoted the equivalent of between £2,000 to £2,500 which seems very expensive to me, but I will check it out. I’ve just had a message from Tresor that the Government is not allowing the boys to be in school over the holidays so not sure if Musumba, Saidi and Kasita will be being sent home!
Godfrey has had a haircut and seems to be doing well working with the strimmer and earning some money.
“He heals the broken-hearted and binds up their wounds.” Psalms 147:3
We have heard from Bethel’s mother and Bethel and his brothers are back with her and her husband for the holidays. Bethel’s school report has improved and hopefully we will see the family in the next few weeks.
All the younger boys at Little Angels have received their school reports and most are doing well, especially Ram who was 1st in his class and Ryan 2nd in his class. Raymond and Kenneth (his first term in school) also very did well. Charles is still struggling at school but is so much calmer at home, please do continue to pray for him as he settles. I didn’t hear if his father came this week as he had promised, which is sad if he didn’t! Kenneth and Beckham went with Benard to collect the reports. Some of the boys were at church on Saturday this week for training and choir.
I am returning to Uganda at the end of the week and am looking forward to seeing everyone, especially the boys – they seem to have grown, I hardly recognised Dan when I spoke to him – I thought he was Yusuf as he was so tall! We will be busy home tracing for the new boys when I get back so that they can start school later in September.
I’ve really enjoyed my time here in the last three months, catching up with many of you has been wonderful. Thank you for all your love, support and interest in our work – we have been truly blessed. Seeing and talking (via WhatsApp) with the boys and listening to their hopes and dreams is amazing. Yusuf is still hoping to be a footballer and I will take him to the stadium when I return just to see if he can get a trial, he is such a good lad.
Lots of love and prayers.
