Happy Easter, some of the older boys return for Easter, sad news – 4 toddlers killed next to Joshua’s school.
Sunday 5th April 2026
Dear friends,
Some of the boys have returned for the Easter weekend. Saidi, Brian, Denis, Joshua, and Musumba are all back at George’s Place. Yusuf says he is coming on Monday as he wants to talk with me. He did come back at the beginning of this week to find out about the progress on his National ID. The boys at Little Angels had their school visitation on Thursday and Benard went to talk with their teachers – I saw the reports on Saturday and they’re all doing well – some exceptionally well. Ryan got over 90% in all subjects except English where be got 88% the teacher’s remarks were ‘he needs to try harder in English!” Sula, Victor, Yusuf and Saviour have all been assessed on their internships and done well.
I’ve sent the boys on Internships and Kasita (senior 4), a small amount of money for Easter, which meant I had an opportunity to talk with them all. Omoding is fine and very pleased with the money, he’s still very young even though he’s 6ft tall!
There was trouble at Joshua’s school (near my apartment) on Thursday lunchtime when someone killed four toddlers at a Day Nursery, the culprit was placed in a car at Maranatha School which caused lots of trouble and the police were involved in firing guns to keep the peace. Joshua arrived back at GP early Friday morning. Please be praying for the community as obviously parents and families are struggling with the situation and there might be repercussions.

Plans are coming along for the Anniversary Celebration which takes place in early May. On Wednesday I took Peace and Petra for fish and chips at the local fish market which they enjoyed, it was a lovely afternoon. My friend Judith who I went on the retreat with last weekend stayed last night as we had a Good Friday service in the garden next to MCC. The Easter Day service will be held at a school as we are joining with The Source, One Life, The Chinese Church, Sojourn and the other KIC branches to celebrate. The boys will be going to Worship Harvest.
The young boys have been playing football, they went Thursday, when they won 10-8, and again on Good Friday as there was a tournament they wanted to compete in. They are winning matches now that Trevor is on the team and looking smart in their kits, though they didn’t win any matches on Friday, some of our boys were considered too big to be on the team.
I will be visiting the boys today, Saturday and we are planning a hike on Monday with a boat ride from Ggaba (if things are ok there). The boys all seem to be doing well, Peace is still looking for Trevor’s brother who may have been taken from the streets by the authorities, which happens sometimes, she has contacted one of the Probation Officers to see if we can find him, prayers please.
Musumba is concerned about his school Prom. to be held in May, he doesn’t think we can afford to buy him a good suit and knows that most of the boys will be smart, he is in a very good school. We have agreed that he goes to the party afterwards as he can just have a new shirt, trousers and shoes. He’s very concerned about his appearance – all part of growing up!
Thank you for all your love and support. We give thanks to The Lord for all he is doing in these young lads lives! Wishing you all a very blessed and peaceful Easter.
Love Jane x
