Independence Day Celebrations, Joseph visits George’s Place
Sunday 12th October 2025
Good morning friends,
This week I visited the Mother’s Union branch meeting at St.Mary with St.George in Muswell Hill. It was very special meeting up with so many members and being able to share Homes of Promise news. I have also visited Exeter this week to catch up with Sue Parks whom I met in Uganda about 11 years ago, she was at one time a Trustee of HoP.
News from Uganda has been good. Robert enjoyed the school celebrations for Independence Day, wearing his yellow Crane T-shirt – he carried the flag! All the boys had Thursday off school to celebrate Independence Day and enjoyed football matches at the Academy. They were all on winning teams – even Kodet and Tresor who joined the ‘big boys’ team!
“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.”
Isaiah 26:
Victor is at George’s Place as the college sent him back to be liaising with the nearby mushroom growing organisation as part of his entrepreneurship course. Also Sula has been sent home from college as he has malaria. Joseph, one of our older boys, who works as a plumber, called in to the home to visit everyone – he is back working with National Water in Entebbe. We hadn’t heard from him for a few months but he is obviously doing well and able to look after himself. He has very few family members just a grandmother and some aunts and keeps in contact with them as well.
Young Denis visited the shop of the lady who is giving him sewing lessons and spent some time with her – he is progressing well. Work has continued on the damp proofing work in George’s Place and the boys have been involved in helping to clean up after the builders. Benard has taken his week off, so Stephen has been looking after the boys, with Patrick, Halima and Tresor. I spoke to the younger boys late Saturday afternoon, they had been playing football at a local pitch, they were all very chatty.
All is well in the office, I have been invited to the blessing at our offices (Pope John II Justice and Peace Centre) of the new Chapel to be opened, unfortunately I will be unable to attend as it’s on 25th October so Peace is going in my place. I spoke to Petra and Precious last Monday morning who were fine.
Thank you for all your love and support. We really appreciate your interest in our work. Looking forward to seeing you soon.
Love Jane x
