31st May, 2020

Dear friends,

Greetings on this Pentecostal Sunday from a very warm Enfield. The sun has been shining all week and I’ve enjoyed many long walks, sitting in the garden, reading and spending time with my family. I also managed to fit in a drive to Wembley to collect things from Soulla for shipment and a visit to the shipping agent – another two large boxes sent off to Uganda.

The boys are all fine, at the beginning of the week they enjoyed a celebration of Shadrach’s birthday with cake and sodas. Paul has been busy with the sewing machine and made a dress (shown off by Sula in the photograph) he has also made hats which the older boys were wearing when I spoke to them all on Monday morning. The lockdown seems to be easing in Uganda and Shadrach has been working on my cars, which have seized up from lack of use. The alternator needed replacing on the very old one and batteries needing charging/replaced! Hopefully, this will be sorted quickly. I have not heard if the schools are starting back yet.

Gorette has found a new house away from the floods and we have agreed to help her with some of the deposit for the rent. I also received photographs from the young lady we sent food to in Kisenyi who distributed some of it to local people who are struggling in this slum area.

We have managed to pay our staff their full wages again this month even though some of them were unable to travel to work and others are working longer hours and taking on more responsibility. Many of the people who are not working in Uganda are not being paid making life extremely difficult for their families. Your continued prayers please, the pandemic seems to be keeping at bay in Uganda only 400+ confirmed cases and no deaths but as we see from other countries this can change rapidly if it gets a ‘hold’.

Thank you for your continued support and prayers for Homes of Promise. God has been watching over and protecting our boys during these difficult times and we trust Him for the future of our work.

With love

Jane
