Talking with the boys, a plea for second-hand football boots and old smartphones
Sunday 28th September 2025
Dear friends,
This afternoon (Saturday), I spoke to Tresor and the boys who had just returned from football. It was lovely seeing and talking with them all. Moses had scored two goals and Bethel who was goalkeeper for his team had saved five! They hadn’t won! Kodet takes his Senior 4 exams in October.
Prayers please for Denis, he is not finding it easy being in school as the boys in his class are much younger than him. We are hoping for him to go to vocational college next year as we feel this would be a better way forward for him. We are looking at colleges nearby so he can commute daily. Marc the youth worker at Kampala International Church called at George’s Place one day this week and took him for a walk to enable Denis to chat with him and he was very open about things. It’s not always easy when boys have missed so much schooling.
“The Lord is my light and my salvation – whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life – of whom shall I be afraid?”
Psalms 27:1
Peace is still working on the new/renewing of Care Orders and Petra and Precious were working in the office. Tresor had been unwell some days this week.
Robert who is in one of the three youngest classes at Little Angels is having a ‘Colour Day’ at school on 8th October (Ugandan flag colours red, black, yellow). Robert will be having to wear a yellow cranes jersey with black trousers. Hopefully he will be graduating into primary school shortly.
This week I’ve spoken to Griffin who is doing well and also had a message from Ronald who is working and sounded fine. Tim is also better and has gone back to where he stays with his friends.
I’m off to France on Monday for a few days with my son, Nick, to check on our cottage before renting to tenants.
Looking forward to seeing some of you in the next few weeks – time seems to be going quickly! Thank you for all your love, support and kindness.
Love Jane x
