Preparing to go back to school/college, Griffin offered a job at The Speke Resort Hotel, Saviour asked to go back to the Country Club during the Christmas holidays
Sunday 14th September 2025
Dear friends,
The boys have had a good week at home preparing to go back to school and college either this weekend or next week. Tresor was busy buying school requirements and will hand most of these out on Sunday afternoon (today). Petra has been kept busy in the office sorting out school fees for payment.
The boys have been helping with the chores around the house, doing general cleaning, also those with school holiday packages or assignments have been working on these and also helping with the food preparation and cooking, though Halima is in charge. The boys who have been visiting their families in the village have all returned except for Dan who will hopefully come back before Monday – we think he probably likes being at home now that the new house has been finished and only needs a few improvements inside, Augustine will get on with these shortly.
“Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.’”
Luke 6:38
Griffin phoned me to let me know he has been offered a job at The Speke Resort Hotel, where he has been on an internship, (one of the best hotels in Uganda), he has bought himself a couple more chefs uniforms. Augustine has also been in touch with me to make sure I was ok! He’s been able to get some work and is fine. Saviour worked at the Country Club during the holidays and Florence the manager has asked him to return during the next holidays as he is such a good worker! This is so encouraging. Omoding returned to college in Tororo on Friday in preparation for his hairdressing exams. Kasita and Yusuf will go by public transport to school and college. Tresor will also drop Joshua and Musumba back to school as they are both nearby in boarding.
I had informed the landlady, recently that some damp patches were reappearing in and outside the house, it had only been decorated last year and I thought that something needed to be done. Thankfully her agent checked and has contacted the builders who have been on site dealing with this, the boys were helpful in clearing up after them! Some work has been done on Tresor’s car and he will be taking the boys back to Connect Africa – Sula, Victor and Saviour, and young Brian back to school.
I’m not sure if the boys went to football or swimming this weekend, I’ve had little contact this week but will hope to speak with some of them this afternoon.
Thank you for all your love, support and kindness. I’m planning to arrange an Afternoon Tea and update on the work in the next few weeks and will keep you informed when I have a date. I seem to have spent a lot of time this week at St. Martin in the Field’s and also attended a service and house group at Jesus Church.
It’s good to be back, thank you for all your messages and welcome.
Love Jane x
