Tresor in Rwanda, Precious graduating this weekend, I find a puppy, Andrea staying
Sunday 27th July 2025
Dear friends,
Tresor left for Rwanda on Tuesday, he felt it was a long journey as the day buses stop regularly. He arrived safely. We had sorted out the finances on Monday for the week and Precious also didn’t work Tuesday as she is graduating this weekend and was travelling to Mbarara for the ceremony.
On Wednesday Peace and I travelled to Garuga to meet the new Health Inspector, Paul, he was visiting a nearby school close to George’s Place and following his inspection proceeded to find us at the home, he came with a colleague from the Town Council. Moses is still in our care but we are expecting a call asking us to hand him back to his mother. I have written a report to the other charity as we are concerned for his welfare. He seems very happy with us.
I have heard from Soulla at The Church of the Ascension in Wembley and many thanks to her and her team from holding the Afternoon Tea in aid for Homes of Promise, we really appreciate all their hard work and support.
“The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.”
Isaiah 58:11
Augustine and his worker finished screeding the walls of Dan’s new home on Monday, and the family couldn’t wait to move in; they virtually did so before he’d finished. There are still a few small things that need to be done, and he will return in a few weeks when we have the finances to do these. He had worked so hard, even preparing food for himself and the family. At the weekend, I had a call from him and he has been unwell but attended the clinic and is on the mend.
On Thursday, Christine and I went for a walk and found a puppy on our way home – in the gutter – it looked like the mother had been killed on the road. Of course, I couldn’t leave it and picked her up – we washed her when we got back, as she was full of lice. Friday afternoon I took her to the vet – where they again ‘scrubbed’ her, vaccinated, dewormed and de-liced her. A lady, called Elizabeth, that I know has offered to give her a home. She is still with me at present.
This weekend, the German lady, Andrea, whom I met at church a few months ago and has moved to Luwero, is with me, and we are going to the Ladies Fellowship this morning, Saturday, and then up to Garuga to take the boys swimming, weather permitting. She is a teacher and there are over two hundred nursery/primary schools she visits, helping/training the staff, and some of the classes have more than 90 students!
There have been Visiting Days, and today, Peace is visiting young Brian, and tomorrow, Sunday, I’m visiting Joshua at Maranatha after church. Kasita sent us a photo of himself taken at his Visiting Day last weekend. I also had a photo from Ronald of him and his half-brother, who is visiting.
Hopefully, I’ll be returning to the UK at the beginning of September and look forward to seeing some of you then. Thank you for all your interest and prayers for our work.
Love Jane x
