Another Bank Holiday – Heroes Day
We give away more t-shirts to a local football team, Denis on his building course
Sunday 14th June 2026
Good morning friends,
It’s been another busy week at Homes of Promise! Everyone is well and it sounds like lots of things are happening.
Kodet has been up to Karamoja as his aunt passed away and he went for the funeral, he is now back at the training college but has changed courses and is doing electrical studies. We do allow the boys to change courses after the first or second term as it’s not always easy for them to decide what they want to do.
Sadly Petra’s father-in-law has also passed away and she wasn’t at work for a few days, though is back now.
It was another Bank Holiday on Tuesday, Heroes Day, so the young ones were off school, playing Ludo, doing their washing and chores, enjoying television. Peace and Ian have cancelled the DSTV subscription as we need to be saving money and the boys need to study when they come back from school – I think it’s sad now that the World Cup has just begun! Probably the staff at George’s Place will object too!
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.” Ephesians 1 v3
Last Sunday evening Yusuf had been asked to play in a football match with an older team in Kisubi, Tresor gave the team new shirts, as we have been blessed with so many! They won 4-0.
Kenneth is still studying hard and doing homework when he comes home from school – he is a really nice lad and hopefully will catch up and go into a higher class shortly.
We’ve had some photos of Denis on his building course, at Don Bosco’s, he seems to be doing well. Yusuf is making himself busy helping Halima with the cooking, especially chapati making. I am meeting with the American lady in London today (Saturday), whose husband knows some of the Ugandan football players and hope there will be a connection there for Yusuf.
The boys have also been playing football at Sky Beach and enjoying themselves. They will go there again today for swimming.
Sula has been in touch this week and sent me a photo of himself and Brian at the Anniversary Celebration – when the boys contact me they like to send a photo of themselves! Tim has also been in contact and has been dancing with his friends on You tube, prayers please he has lost so much weight. Augustine has been in contact and I spoke with Victor when he went to the office again on Monday.
Thank you for all your support and interest in our work. I am planning an Afternoon Tea and update on our work either at the end of July or beginning of August, date to be available soon at Jesus Church. I’ll also be speaking at the Garden Party in Harrow on 18th July and hope to see some of you there.
With love and blessings.
