Charles in hospital, Yusuf travels to Mbarara for his grandfather’s funeral, Victor, Saviour and Sula preparing to go back to Connect Africa
Sunday 12th January 2025
Dear friends,
Charles has been in hospital since last Monday. Peace and I visited him and Petra in the afternoon and I went again on Wednesday to take Petra some money for medical tests/treatment etc. The doctors are meeting again next Monday as the tests show that his blood has high potassium and low sodium levels. He is very weak and has been on oxygen to help with his breathing. Your prayers please for him, Petra and the family.
Last Monday we celebrated Peace’s birthday, which had been on the 2nd January with cake, Trésor took some for the boys and staff at George’s Place. On that day Victor and Yusuf were employed by Ian to spring clean a couple of rooms in his apartment. They received a large breakfast and Shawarma for lunch! They were very happy.
Yusuf’s paternal grandfather has passed away and his mother took him to Mbarara on Thursday for the funeral. He has had little contact with his father’s family and he is hoping this will make a difference! Yusuf is a very gifted boy, artistic, creative, loves football, kind to the younger boys, hard working, good natured and a blessing to HoP – I only hope his ‘family’ doesn’t take advantage of him. He has been in our care for the last eight years and it’s been a privilege to see him grow and develop so well.
“I lift up my eyes to the mountains – where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.” Psalms 121:1-2
Wednesday morning Trevor dropped me at Acacia Mall, whilst he took my car to buy two new tyres – we then called at the hospital, followed by a visit to the NGO board to see if my letter was ready – they advised me to come back next Thursday! I am so disappointed as I first applied in September and then resubmitted everything again in early December as they had lost my file – my work permit runs out in February.
The traffic has been bad this week as there has been an AU (African Union) Summit at Munyonyo – roads have been closed with lots of police and army around. Thankfully it finishes (today) Saturday. I’ll be going to see the boys after church today.
News
- Steven took Griffin to look for an internship at hotels in Entebbe, he hasn’t found anything yet.
- Kasita has returned from visiting his mother.
- Victor, Sula and Saviour return to Connect Africa on Monday on their vocational courses – the requirements are unbelievable and Tresor has been out this week making sure they have everything they need.
Thank you for all your love and support.
With prayers and blessings.
