Happy New Year, New Year’s Day, one of Tresor’s birthday’s! Prayers please for Charles.
Sunday 5th January 2025
Dear friends,
Wishing you all a blessed, healthy and Happy New Year.
I’m sorry to say I slept during The New Year celebrations! Christine and I went to church earlier in the evening but when I got home I was tired and went to bed – I thought the fireworks at midnight would wake me but I slept right through – the joy of getting older!
The boy’s and staff at George’s Place went in the minibus to see in the New Year at a local church service which was followed by fireworks. They were all happy.
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13
New Year’s Day I was up early cooking sausages as we were taking the boy’s on a picnic breakfast to the Botanical Gardens in Entebbe. Ian, Tresor and I took our cars and squeezed everyone in – there were 7 big boys plus Steven with me. It was a lovely day and we enjoyed our picnic, a walk by the lake and then the boys played football, tried tennis and badminton and threw the frisbees. The botanical gardens are delightful with so many different species of trees and lots of the unusual colobus monkeys. We left about 2pm as we had planned tilapia and chips for lunch and a local lady had cooked everything. This is a real treat in Uganda! It was also one of Tresor’s birthday’s! He seems to have two, so of course there was cake. Ian asked some of the boys what they were hoping for in 2025, most of the older ones want to finish their courses well and the younger ones want to be promoted to the next class in school. There is such a good atmosphere in the home, everyone seems to be well settled and Steven is definitely an asset to the staff team.
Joseph has been working his internship at National Water and seems to be doing well. Sula has returned and is also looking for something to do – he is on a hairdressing course and hasn’t yet been taught how to style men’s hair with all the fancy markings and he wants to learn this. I’m sure he will be taught later this year!
Petra took Charles back to the hospital but unfortunately there was only one doctor on duty – he had an Echo Scan and has to return next Monday. Prayers please for Charles.
The boys went to football on Saturday morning and came back tired. The weather has been really hot this week and it looks like the rainy season is over.
Thank you for all your support over the last year. There have been so many blessings and encouragements. As I look back over the last 10 years I am astonished at where God has led our work and am thankful for the way, most of our boy’s lives have been transformed by the love and commitment of the staff and yourselves. Thank you.
Love Jane xx
