Denis is back! And an update on the work of Homes of Promise announced
Sunday 6th October 2024
Dear friends,
I’ve not heard much from Kampala this week but do know that Tresor and Godfrey found Denis in Kisenyi on Tuesday (minus the bike) and he is now safely back at George’s Place. Thank you for all your prayers. Peace visited him on Friday, he obviously didn’t plan to run away – a spur of the moment decision with the excitement of riding a bike. Denis has been kept busy at home washing the boys clothes and helping with the cooking and cleaning, he also went with Tresor for a walk to the lake one afternoon. Your continued prayers for him please, he had never been to school until he came to us and finds it difficult.
Jade is back from her travels and is planning to take the boys to the cinema this afternoon – that might not be successful as sometimes what is advertised on the internet isn’t what is being shown – hoping it’s a success, as the boys will be excited. If there are any problems they will probably go to the botanical gardens. Trésor and Benard are planning to go as well.
‘May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.’ Psalm 19 v14
The young boys went swimming Saturday afternoon, they all seem to be fine but the camera needed a battery so no photos!
We have found someone (Stephen) to replace Sam to work as Deputy Warden when Benard is off. He is a school teacher and happy to work a weekend a month and at other times during school holidays. He will spend some time with Benard for a few days beforehand to get to know the boys. Peace interviewed him but we will need to do the background checks before he starts.
I’ve agreed for Tresor to go to the mushroom growers project on Monday to check that we are doing things correctly. Patrick had gone for training with Sam but I want Tresor to speak with them as I thought the house should be much darker!
I’ve had a few text messages from the older boys and from Jessie, (my driver when we go out of Kampala), who are all fine. Tim went for a further visit to the dentist with Benard and Kodet has been sent home, suspended from school for a couple of weeks – I’m not sure what that is about but hopefully Peace will inform me.
I’m really looking forward to seeing some of you at the end of the month. Sadly my daughter-in-law’s father passed away this week and I’ve been spending lots of time with the family.
Thank you for all your support and prayers.
Love Jane x
