I return to the U.K., mushroom garden progressing, Tresor visits Connect Africa
Sunday 29th September 2024
Dear friends,
I arrived back in the U.K on Wednesday afternoon – temperature 11 degrees, but it wasn’t raining! I have had plenty of text messages from the older boys this week and even a call from Patrick in Rukungiri. Griffin sent me a copy of his college report as he hadn’t received it before the holidays – he is doing really well, as we knew by his cooking abilities.
Tim went to the dentist on Monday as he needed root canal treatment and has appointments for the next 2 weeks. Sadly we haven’t heard anything about Denis, there were rumours last week that he was nearby but nothing else has been heard, though Benard, Patrick and Tresor continue looking.
I called at George’s Place before I left to say goodbye to the staff plus Peanut and Zimba. Jessie and Tresor came to the airport to see me off! It’s always with mixed feelings that I return as I’m so involved in the boy’s lives and always available to them.
‘Go simply, lightly, gently, Go with obedience, Go with love’ – we serve a Great, Glorious and Gracious God and to Him be the glory.’ Amen. Blessing from Nazareth Community.
Tresor has been to deliver requirements to the boys at Connect Africa as we hadn’t been given a list before they returned to college. Sula needed some items for hairdressing and Victor and Saviour had to have cleaning materials for housekeeping which is part of their catering course!
This week we ordered 50 mushroom gardens which have been delivered – I’m not sure how they work but hope Patrick is well informed as he went on the course – the mushroom house should house about 300 gardens when it’s full.
The younger boys all went to football on Saturday, I tried to call and speak with them when they came back but Tresor’s phone was charging and I was out on a long walk through Forty Hall/Whitewebbs all afternoon. The younger boys have also been mending their school shirts, sewing buttons on etc. this being the third term some of the shirts are in need of repairs – they are looking quite serious in their work.
Jade texted me and she and Nate had an amazing time trekking for 5 days in the Rwenzori mountains, she said it was so beautiful and incredible, though they are completely exhausted and stayed the last night with a family in the village, bathing in a bucket of cold water and with intermittent electricity! She is going to write something for one of my newsletters when she has time and energy!
The work continues even in my absence, thank you for all your love, support, prayers and kindness. Looking forward to seeing you soon.
With love and prayers.
