Joshua passes P7 exams, Griffin starts at the hotel, Kodet preparing to return to school, Charles’ operation postponed until Monday
Sunday 26th January 2025
Good morning friends,
Lots of good news – Joshua passed his P7 exams with an aggregate of 20 in Division 2, we are really pleased as he went from Primary 4 to P6 so had missed out a whole year. He wants to go to Maranatha High School so I am planning to take him to register next Tuesday. On filing Kasita’s end of year school report we found he had 3 A’s and 9 A*s, he is a bright lad but wanting to leave school at the end of Senior 4. Prayers please. Kodet goes back to school on Monday, Trésor has been busy buying requirements and Petra paying school fees. You have to have evidence that you have paid before you enter the school gates!
Griffin is now doing his internship at the Garuga Resort beach hotel, he’s phoned me a few times as the place is very remote and I’m not sure how busy he is, he was asking for data for his phone so that he can contact us and his friends. A teacher is coming from Don Bosco next week to assess him and Joseph.
We now have the football game renovated, it was put to such good use it needed a leg fixed and a new base. The young boys are really pleased. This was given to us a while ago by Sherry who I met at church, her children had enjoyed it for years and now our boys are getting the benefit.
“Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.” 1 John 4:7
It was my birthday on Tuesday and we celebrated in the office with chicken and chips but the boda guy got lost and delivered it two hours late – cold! We are celebrating at George’s Place today with cake and sodas. The staff have given me a cup which I’m delighted with, has my age, photo of me and words of gratitude. A lovely keepsake.
At last I submitted my application for the renewal of my work permit and hopefully this will happen shortly. Christine is battling with renewing her NGO permit! Prayers please.
There are many blessings with the boys doing well, they’ve spent time this week on general cleaning. Young Brian returned Thursday having been with his grandmother for the holidays so we now just await Saidi’s return. It’s a busy time getting the boys ready for school/college. Everyone deciding they need shoes/trainers, trousers, bed sheets etc. at the last moment, they all return to school/college by the 2nd February or before. Benard is looking forward to a few days off after that!
Charles’s operation has unfortunately been postponed again, but today I received news from Petra, that the anaesthetist had visited Charles and agreed that the operation can go ahead Monday ‘if other factors remain constant’. We’ve been trying to make sure that he’s been having food that he likes. Prayers please.
Tim arrived Saturday afternoon he is fine and seems happy doing his dancing on TikTok. He does cook for the other youngsters that he stays with so at least he is keeping up his skills.
Thank you for all your love and support.
