More rain! Spring cleaning, Musumba back from school, Dennis goes to Gulu, Mudslides in the east.
Sunday 1st December 2024
Dear friends,
Thursday evening I celebrated American Thanksgiving with 18 members of KIC (Kampala International Church), it was a lovely evening, good food – turkey and all the trimmings plus pumpkin pie!
During the day Santa (who cleans for me) and I went to George’s Place to have a really good ‘spring’ clean. The older boys were there and Brian, Joshua, and Musumba (who had just arrived home from school as we arrived) plus Benard worked hard washing paintwork, cleaning walls, windows, bathrooms etc. it’s a big house and more work needs to be done before the party on the 7th. Joseph (Yusuf) cooked chapatis for our lunch. Gorette had a fall on Tuesday and is off work, but the boys and staff are managing to cook. We have also had the chicken house renovated as it hadn’t moved well when we relocated when building the mushroom house.
Griffin is back at GP with his National ID and Big Dennis left on Friday to go back to his father in Gulu – there are floods in the north and east so we checked the roads were safe for buses. Prayers please as there has been a mudslide in the area Ivan stays and over 100 people are missing. We haven’t been able to contact Ivan or any of his family yet.
“Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew, like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants.” Deuteronomy 32:2
We have had rain every day for the past week, we are hopefully now leaving the wet season but even as I’m writing this the rain has started again.
Joseph (Ryan) and Bethel are graduating from Top Class and Primary 1 and there is a special celebration at school on Sunday. We have donated a cake for them to enjoy. I had been given a few new white shirts when I was in the U.K. which have come in very useful as they needed new shirts and trousers. The young boys were all at Harvest Worship church today, (Saturday) for a children’s day and were involved in handing out food to community members and people who attended. Benard tells me the police appreciated our boys for being well disciplined and ‘God fearing’, Benard was really proud of them.
Tresor collected two new double deckers this week and we have also had new mattress covers made. I donated a new fridge as the old one wasn’t working. Hopefully we are nearly ready for the Probation Officer’s inspection on the 12th.
I received a photo from Patrick showing the doors he has been working on. He seems to be doing well.
I haven’t been to George’s Place today as the boys were out and we had a Ladies Fellowship morning, I might go after church tomorrow to the school celebration. Thank you for all your love and kindness.
With love and prayers.
