Plenty of rain, football tournaments, Augustine working on improving Dan’s home, feeding the hungry!
Sunday 6th July 2025
Good morning friends,
We seem to have had a lot of rain this week, also the electricity at work has been unstable I think due to the solar panels, at present the sun is shining and it’s a pleasant 25 degrees. Hope you’re all enjoying the heatwave there.
The boys are all fine, though Robert has been to the clinic – he has a tendency to eat and eat until he vomits – I have advised Benard to check his eating habits, he has been dewormed! I think whilst he was on the streets he had problems with gingivitis and also not much food so he is making up for it! He’ll be fine.
I haven’t been to Garuga this week – I was going today (Saturday) but the boys have a football tournament which will last all day. There was also a match at Little Angles on Wednesday that Benard and Tresor took the new boys to. Moses asked the coach if they could be on the team as they were going to be joining Little Angels shortly, they were allowed – both scored goals! They were so happy.
On his way to George’s Place one afternoon Tresor was stopped by two young boys from the neighbourhood saying they were hungry and hadn’t eaten that day – Tresor took them to the home and Halima found a plate of food for them to share – after eating most of the food they asked for a bag to take the rest for their family. 🙏 prayers please for the family.
“He gives food to every creature. His love endures for ever.”
Psalms 136:25
Tresor met up with Augustine near Mukono on Thursday and they drove to Kayunga to start work on a ‘dry’ home for Dan’s family. They only have a small plot of land. Augustine is charging very little for what he is doing as he wants to help the family, this is amazing and we really appreciate him. He has two friends helping him and Dan’s dad. Before work began Augustine suggested they prayed for the building work and the family. Tresor found two rooms for them to be staying in for the next couple of weeks. The family have a new puppy.
Precious and Peace are both fine and the office work is up to date, the Minutes of last week’s meeting have been written and sent to members of the Management Committee as we need these agreed and signed to submit to the NGO Board with our annual accounts for 2024 and other information they require.
Patrick is still with us having regular dental appointments. He did go into Kampala to see his dad this week and I believe that went well. Patrick and his dad have had a very difficult relationship for many years, though the dad has always met with us if we have phoned him. Patrick works and stays in Rukungiri with his mother’s family.
- Ian has been in Fort Portal at his farm and sent me photos of Musumba’s goat, which is pregnant, for me to forward to him.
- Victor also called me as he and Saviour would like to be trying out some different recipes, I’m awaiting a list of ingredients from them.
- Sula called and sent some photos of crocheting he has been doing!
- Asaph has been in touch and is with his family.
- Older Dennis arrived at my apartment 8.15am on Tuesday morning he had travelled from Gulu on the overnight bus and was at Maranatha school at 7.30am to collect his ‘O’ level Certificate and pass slip to submit to the university. I let him shower and made him some pancakes before dropping him off near Arena Mall to get a taxi to the bus park for him to return! He also had a lecture from me about being responsible and organised. I forgot to take photos of him and the certificate – so probably need to take my own advice!
Everything seems to be running well but with so many teenagers in our care things can change quite quickly! We really appreciate all your love, prayers and support we couldn’t do this work without you.
Love and blessings,
Jane
