1st March, 2020

Dear friends,

It’s Saturday lunchtime and I’ve just returned from a church Women’s Meeting – we are planning to meet once a month. It was a very ‘international’ meeting as we were from Canada, America, Australia, Korea, Hong Kong, Nederland’s, Kenya, Uganda, Scotland, Germany, England, (I’m sure I’ve even missed some countries out!). There were about 20 of us and we looked at ‘Identity’ and our identity in Christ, we also shared food and enjoyed fellowship. It was a really lovely morning getting to know more members of the church.

The boys are all fine. Derrick went back to his father’s on Monday and hopefully, we will travel to his village next week to make sure he is settling in and looking for Industrial training in metalwork.

‘Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.’ Galatians 6v9 (One of the verses from City Lights,Dubai)

Sula arrived on Friday afternoon with his older sister, he ran back to the streets a month ago, his mother is in Abu Dhabi, we really need to think and pray about whether he can settle with us, so we arranged for them to come back again next Monday.

After school one afternoon we checked the boys ‘boxes’ and shoes to make sure that they are keeping their clothes clean and looking after their belongings, we spent an interesting hour, finding that some boys have two or three pairs of good trainers whilst others only have one ‘tatty’ pair – perhaps shoe sizes are the reason for the discrepancies – I’m still looking into that! We have some easy reading books and some of the boys have been coming to my office after school to read to me. Omoding was so pleased that he could read one of these small books – we need to get a few more.

I have also been ‘house hunting’, Christine from church mentioned she had looked at a house to rent which was too large for her project. Unfortunately, I think it is ‘too nice’ for George’s Place to relocate to – there were two other small houses in the compound which could have been useful as an office block and visitors accommodation, the main house was spacious and beautiful – I don’t think the boys would ever want to leave and return to their village life! I’m sure The Lord has the right place for us – so your prayers, please.

This week we had an email from the church in Dubai that are praying and supporting us they gave specific scripture verses encouraging us in our work – their insights and prayers were inspiring, encouraging us as we go forward.

Well, I’m off to work shortly and to take the boys to KK Beach, Tresor is joining us today as he has a day off work and will then stay at my home tonight.

When I arrived at GP, Patrick had arrived for the weekend, it was good to see him, he continues to work hard in the welding and tells me he is also rearing chickens at his fathers home. Tomorrow, Sunday is Visiting Day for Dennis – he has sent a list of things he would like me to take!

Thank you for all your prayers and support.
