Boys back from college and boarding school, Elisha visits GP, Charles still settling in. Final preparations for 10th Anniversary

Sunday 3rd May 2026

Dear friends,

Last Sunday Tresor and Soleil dropped the boys off at Worship Harvest before they came on to Kampala International Church.

We’ve had a busy week with most of the boys coming back from college or school. Kasita arrived, with medals for athletics, he is preparing for his Prom which is on 2nd May, Tresor took him on Tuesday to buy a suit and some other clothes.

Peace received an email on Monday from the Ministry of Gender requesting that we take in 8 more boys! She has talked with them and we have agreed to have three more. We really like to settle the new ones and have them in school before we take in more but I believe the authorities have collected so many from the streets and need to find somewhere for them to go. Please be praying about this situation we make a long term commitment to the boys we take in to educate and resettle them.

On Wednesday Peace, Petra and I went to George’s Place for a staff meeting and to talk with the boys that were there. The boys entertained themselves which was good as Patrick is still away and Stephen isn’t always there during the day times. There had been some trouble as Charles had broken a window and because he winds some of the boys up, they had told him he would be taken back to the streets. I gave them a talk about loving our brother and being kind, Kasita joined in saying when some of them arrived in the home they had ‘bad’ behaviour but they were now good! Poor Charles was reduced to tears but he’ll be fine! Here they would say ‘he is stubborn’, he has fought with so many of the boys and hasn’t got a real friend! 🙏 prayers please.

Preparations are going ahead for the Anniversary service and celebrations. Peace and Augustine went on Tuesday to the church to talk to the clergy and organise the service, and then went to a school where 12 of our older boys who are resettled will be staying next Friday night. Asaph has phoned and is also planning to come.

Saidi returned from school with his report – which is good considering we have put him in boarding in P7 – last year he was in P4. He is keeping up with the work and will take the exams for secondary school at the end of the year.

Elisha went to George’s Place on Friday, teaching them some songs and a dance – he is so talented in leading worship. Tresor has travelled to Rwanda as his visa has run out and needs to be renewed – he will be having a busy weekend travelling – hopefully there will be no hiccups and he’ll be back for Monday.

My friend Lynn arrives next Monday evening, she was a trustee when we first started and was also treasurer at one time. Lynn was very instrumental in setting up the Charity in the UK, 10 years ago. James, my son is also arriving next Wednesday, he is a trustee and updates the website each week. Really looking forward to seeing them both.

We’ve still had lots of rain – nearly every day, it is so unusual, everywhere is very green and lush and I’m finding it cold!

The presidential swearing in is on 12th May and lots of heads of state are flying in so some roads and places are really looking smart. There will probably be road closures during that time and some upheaval.

Today, Friday 1st May, is a Bank Holiday here. I’m meeting Chantal later for lunch. Tomorrow I’m planning to go to George’s Place and if the weather is warm enough will take the boys swimming. When I arrived on Saturday, Godfrey was at the home and asked if he could bring his new baby to the pool, for me to see – a little cutie – Kyalisa Jane, had a cuddle and met her mum.

Please be praying for our celebrations next Saturday – that everyone arrives safely and the service, lunch and speeches go well. Sun would be good but rain is considered a blessing! Nora our lawyer who is on the Management Committee and also been involved since 2016 will be our keynote speaker. Revd. Canon Michael will preach at the service. (Peace’s husband)

Thank you for all your love and support. The Lord has truly blessed our work and has ‘Changed Lives’ in amazing ways. To Him be the Glory!

Love Jane x
