Dear friends,

The older boys are still buying all the fruit and vegetables and this week Dennis and Kodet took Augustine along with them. They managed to buy Jackfruit but I haven’t seen any of it yet! Dennis (S4) and Kodet (S1) will be going to boarding school when the schools reopen, early next year. Augustine is struggling to find work at the present time and when the other boys are in boarding he is happy to take on the responsibility of shopping. He has also been filling in holes and cracks in the boys bedroom walls with filler and sanding down and I am going to allow him to paint the rooms, under the decorator’s supervision.

Tuesday I went to Entebbe to collect a box from Dubai that had been sent to us, of secondhand boys clothes and shoes. It was a long process and involved us employing an Agent to do the paperwork and me being interviewed by Customs. The system from the U.K. that we use, by sea, is so much easier! I was entertained for a time whilst I was there as three large bulls had been flown in from South Africa and were in small ‘shipping’ crates. The bulls were being removed from the crates into one smallish lorry – they had to reverse out of the crates, obviously not easy explaining this to a bull especially that has been traumatised by a flight. It took about three hours to do this and at one point I thought the lorry would overturn – one of the crates actually did after the bull had exited. It was very hot and sunny but the bulls could definitely stick up for themselves and no one was hurt!

Wednesday afternoon I went back to Entebbe to collect Diana (whose house I am staying in) she is a Missionary from Canada, she had stayed over night at a small hotel called ‘2 Friends’. We had a late lunch sitting by the edge of Lake Victoria (which has risen considerably over the last couple of years) and started catching up!

The boys are all fine. Tresor has been able to put in place the process of obtaining the boy’s National ID’s and Dennis now has an ID number – it will take a few weeks for the ID card to come through. Anton arrived on Tuesday and Tresor took him to Agromax on Friday to collect his Directorate of Industrial Training Certificate in Farmer (Crop) Occupation, which he should have received a couple of years ago! They asked him to return next week to collect an Agromax Certificate. Kasita was busy on Friday cooking as Gorette was taking her son to the hospital and he also cooked again on Saturday as Halima is unwell. He did very well.

Peace took the new Derek to the police station at Kabalagala as she hasn’t been able to see the Probation Officer in Kisenyi and we needed some paperwork signed as we are planning to travel with him next week to find his relatives.

It is much quieter in George’s Place without the older boys around and everyone is more relaxed though we do need a new remote for the television as the sound button doesn’t work and it is far too loud, in my opinion! The boys were involved in painting old tyres today for making garden containers with Mary.

Peanut is behaving slightly better than usual as I think he senses that Diana is nervous of him. I actually got around to taking him for a walk on Saturday morning – Tresor’s brother Didi walks him in the week.

Many thanks for all your love, support and prayers.

Love Jane
