Dear friends,

The Ggaba area of Kampala has been transformed beyond recognition, stalls have been removed, roads and roadsides improved, trees planted – it’s amazing, all ready for the G77 Summit that begins next week in Munyonyo. There will be a few problems as all bodas and taxis will not be allowed on the roads nearby and the three roads that run parallel to and from Kampala will all be closed at certain times of the day for the next 10 days. There are also army personnel on every street corner and lots of car/police convoys racing through with lights and horns blazing. In the last two weeks street lights have been placed all along the Expressway and beautiful posters and welcome signs on all the bridges. Absolutely wonderful, but I’m not sure where the stallholders have gone to or how the majority of people will get to work.

I wasn’t too well last weekend and didn’t actually go back to work until Thursday.

”For you make me glad by your deeds, Lord; I sing for joy at what your hands have done. How great are your works, Lord, how profound your thoughts!“‭‭ Psalms‬ ‭92‬:‭4‬-‭5‬ ‭

The boys are all well and it’s busy at George’s Place with so many there. Griffin phoned me this morning and is doing well at his work placement in Iganga. Don Bosco college send teachers to check how well the boys have been doing over this 6 week period, Joseph working for National Water will also be assessed. Of course we have to pay for this!

Some of the older boys are now back, Kodet, Kasita and Sula. They all seem to have had a good time whilst away. Tresor arrived back on Friday from DRC and was busy today sorting out some of the requirements for the boys we shall visit next week. Dennis is continuing with his daily driving lessons and theory test each week and of course Robert is at the salon.

The boys all went to football last Saturday and Sam sent me some photos, which I will include this week. Hopefully the boys will be able to go swimming today (Saturday) but at the present time it’s raining. It did clear up and the four younger boys with Yusuf and Victor came along. I had a long talk with Yusuf, he is really sensible and mature – prayers please as the boys think about their futures. Ian is going to talk with Jonus who runs the football academy that the boys attend to see if there are any openings there for Yusuf. The boys have been making some signs to put on the noticeboards that look good – making statements like: We are family, We have fun, We forgive, We say sorry, We are real.

I have spoken to young Denis who is still with his grandfather and Saidi who is with his mother, they will probably both be back next week. Sula went missing for a couple of days before he returned, as his mother left him holding the baby! Long story! but he took the baby to his grandmother and found his way back to us!

I’ve had some good conversations with lots of the boys today who are growing up fast. Thank you for all your kindness, support and prayers.

Every blessing.
