Ian is back, plans for the older boys camp underway, auditors finish their work, decorating finished
Sunday 13th April 2025
Good morning friends,
The rainy season is definitely here – there has been rain most days, followed by hot sunshine – the plants on my balcony are growing rapidly and might soon need larger pots! Sadly Raymond’s mum didn’t come last Sunday. 🙏
I met up with Ian on Tuesday morning as he is now back from the U.K. it was good to bring him up to date especially re the camp for the older boys as the site we had booked are not allowed to have visitors overnight! We are now booked into the sailing club in Munyonyo thanks to Ian’s help and have signed a contract and paid a deposit so things are going ahead. Later that day Petra and I interviewed a young lady, Precious, who is going to start working for us two days a week in the office. Petra is expecting a baby shortly and although she is willing to work from home we need someone in the office. I am also hoping to reduce my days of work and pass on some of my work to Petra when she returns. In the afternoon Peace, Petra and I travelled to Garuga as there have been some discrepancies in the bills from the Medical Centre the boys attend and these needed addressing with the doctor. All sorted!
The auditors finished their work on Thursday and when I met Catherine on Wednesday she advised that our accounting system had improved due to Quick Books. She is still recommending that we reduce our cash expenditure.
“They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting, ‘Hosanna!’ ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!’ ‘Blessed is the king of Israel!’”
John 12:13
Griffin had an interview on Tuesday and believes he did well, photo of the cake he had to make, they were also impressed with the cappuccino’s he made, he hasn’t heard back from them. Griffin has also been back to the Speke Hotel at Munyonyo and put his name down for a three month internship, he is expecting to hear from them next month – this would be very good experience for him as this is one of the best hotels in Kampala.
I’ve had a few calls from Denis, who will be collecting his ‘A’ level pass slip at the end of the month and he also sent me information for registering at Gulu University. Tresor has been in contact with Joseph from Buikwe (plumbing) who has found work and seems to be managing well.
The house decorating at George’s Place, has finished and is looking good. We have also had a wall built around the bottom of the mushroom house as Zimba kept breaking in – not sure that this will keep him out – he is quite destructive and spends some time in the kennel, especially when visitors are around – hopefully he will grow out of it.
The young boys are all fine, we received midterm school reports, Dan and Bethel’s reports weren’t so good, but it is understandable as Dan lost his mum last month and Bethel is from Congo, (speaks three languages), Joseph (Ryan) and Ram are both doing really well but Saidi is upset as he came third in his class whereas he was 1st last term. They all went to football again this Saturday training for the tournament next Friday, it rained all morning, they got soaked! I went to see them in the afternoon with some patterns to colour and lollipops! Some played out in the rain riding the bikes and playing basketball!
Thank you for all your love and support, please be praying for our boys and the camp planned for after Easter.
Love Jane x
