Dear friends,

Last week I forgot to mention that Diana and I had friends from church to breakfast on Saturday in celebration of our birthdays.

Wednesday was Independence Day and the boys had a day off school and so did most of the staff. Benard and I took the boys swimming in the afternoon and we met a Ugandan musician/comedian, Kadekka, being interviewed near the pool. Of course they were delighted when he agreed to be photographed with them all.

Dan had to be collected from school Friday morning as he was feeling unwell, but I think getting up really early and walking about 1 1/2 miles each way to Maranatha is quite exhausting for him, especially by the end of the week, he also likes being at home! Saturday morning he did his chores- washing the floors in the offices and seems fine!

‘Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.’ 2 Corinthians 3 v17

We have started eating the sukuma wiki which we have grown – I think the tomatoes are needing more water as we have had no rain this week.

We paid the school fees for Derrick’s brother Kevin, in the village near Mbale, he is now back at school and sent a message thanking us. Martin, someone Peace knows helps us when we are needing to send money in that area.

Benard has gone away for the weekend and I was left with the 5 older boys on Friday for most of the day. I asked Paul to give them a lesson in sewing on buttons and doing stitching on handkerchiefs – they spent at least two hours enjoying the lesson and were very pleased with their results.

Peace called in at George’s Place during the morning this Saturday and her and I had a serious talk with the boys about our expectations of good behaviour. I believe some of the boys are finding it difficult to resettle in school and we have also had staff changes in the home which could be causing some anxiety.

Maria our art teacher came on Saturday afternoon and the boys enjoyed their art class. Their drawing ability and concentration has definitely improved. When I left in the evening 8 of the boys were improving their badminton skills, one of our neighbours son’s from the flats next door had joined them.

Please do be praying for us and the people of Uganda, many are really struggling financially here to send their children back to school.

Thank you for all your support.

With love and prayers.

Jane
