Dear friends,

Where does the time go to, another week has flown by at George’s Place! On Tuesday, Sam and Bob attended a meeting organised by Crane at the head office of Retrak to meet other NGO’s representatives working with street children.  The working committee are trying to promote the plight of street children through the media and a number of radio programmes are being arranged; it’s good for HoP to get involved and build up relationships with the different agencies.

The boys are all fine, there have been a couple of visits to the dentist and talks to the boys about regularly cleaning their teeth as visits to the doctor and dentist can work out expensive. We have also had fire extinguishers installed and the staff trained on how to use them. Lectures to the boys about not touching!  I’ve been teaching the boys how to weave, knit, make wool balls and sew which they seem to be enjoying, Samuel is keen to make his ‘jugga’ (granny) a blanket!

We have a new menu at George’s Place, with less carbohydrates and more protein, fruit and vegetables but I’m not sure everyone is happy with it, the majority of people here eat piles of rice, matoke, posho, potatoes in one meal, and I have reduced it to only one of these per meal, we will keep to it for the next few weeks and review.

‘Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves.’ Matthew 10 v 16

Sadly we only have one chick left at home, the cat has devoured two and two fell ill and died, the remaining one Jackie, is being well looked after by Beatrix but the cat is always on the prowl.  Jenny is sitting on eggs so we might have a few more soon, but it seems as if we are just providing lunch for next doors cat!

Connie from South London, visited on Friday with her nephew, she is returning to the UK next week – we enjoyed afternoon tea with them.  The boys showed their appreciation for the Ludo board and the footballs she has provided, we prayed and sang choruses before they left.

Saturday – our day out, the boys asked to return to Wonderworld, they enjoy the swimming and rides.  Just before lunch time there was a knock on the gate and S-P stood there asking if he could come back – he was very dirty – Tim and Samuel scrubbed him clean.  It’s good to see him home.  We all went and enjoyed the afternoon out.

Thank you for all your love, support and prayers.

Jane
