Dear friends,

Over the last few weeks I have been eating with the boys at lunchtime (posho, rice, matoke, beans or peanut sauce, which they love but which I can only face half a plateful) and just having a snack in the evenings, some times missing home foods! It’s been a busy time setting up George’s Place and I really am committed to the boys but probably need to let go and let Sam and others take some responsibility.

So this week I took two days off relaxing did me the ‘world of good’ – ready to face the challenges of work permit paperwork which Fridah will submit on Thursday, at a cost of $5,000!

Wednesday I worked all day. We have a new security man Rogers, who is keen on football and is training the boys to be working together as a team, whistle in mouth, calling fouls, showing exercise routines and keeping them in order – wonderful, he’s also cleaned my car – killed a poisonous snake that wandered into the compound, as they do – joins in the worship times – could well become my hero! Definitely God sent.

‘Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in Him.’ Psalm 62 v5

We had a young doctor visit us this week, he had been on duty at the clinic the night Paul was there and I think had the idea that we needed a full time doctor on call – sorry to disappoint him! I visited the dentist with Ronald and Samuel as they both needed teeth extracted, they didn’t make a fuss about it, and I’m not sure if they were given injections – no numb faces, but they were given paracetamol afterwards. William came with me to George’s Place Saturday morning and gave me a lesson on how to shave heads, I practiced on Tim!

The weather has been really warm and sunny this week and it feels like the rainy season might be over. The boys are looking forward to going to Ggaba beach again on Saturday and hopefully Rogers is arranging for them to play a friendly football match against another team after church on Sunday. Lots to be thankful for.

Happy Bank Holiday.

With love and prayers

Jane
