Dear friends,

Greetings from a very damp Kampala. I believe it has rained every day this week, mostly at night and early mornings, causing everywhere look fresh but muddy. Today, Saturday the sun has eventually emerged and it is warm and sunny.

I’ve been in the office most days, sorting out paperwork, writing cheques for school fees and updating a new leaflet. The boys are all fine. Dennis is back at boarding school and Derrick and Paul back on their vocational training courses. Anton has sent some photos of the land and the groundnuts are growing well, I think he is missing Yusuf and has asked for 20,000UGX (£4) so that someone can work with him for four days to clear the grass between the plants. He is probably finding it lonely working back on his own. Tim has been busy baking cakes and decorating them at our neighbours bakery – I did treat the boys to one of his cakes for Friday tea – it was very good. Emma has been harvesting the avocados from the tree in the compound which we have enjoyed every lunch time. He is still working hard in the welding business and Augustine continues with his building work, they get paid very little but manage to save something

…….’He has shown kindness by giving you rain from heaven and crops in their seasons; he provides you with plenty of food and fills your hearts with joy.’ Acts 14 v17

The younger boys are all due back to school on Monday. Not all of them have arrived back from the village yet but big James came back yesterday and Musumba earlier in the week. We did take them to play football on Monday afternoon and we took them swimming on Wednesday. Sam and I walked them to Munyonyo on Thursday afternoon, after it stopped raining, but the grass was very squelchy; we then piled into a taxi on the way back much to the other passengers grumblings, 11 sweaty boys squeezed in with 10 adults, (includes the driver, Sam and I) not pleasant!

We are shortly off to KK Beach. The DJ has offered to be ‘training’ Godfrey but you have to negotiate, (I keep out of this as the price can go up if they think I’m involved) this is something that I believe Godfrey would really take to. He loves music, dancing and is a real character and always smiling. The younger boys enjoy the activities at KK but also enjoy playing on the iPads the last hour before we return.

Prayers please for big Brian who wants to go on a welding course and Shaffick – they both returned a few weeks ago, we need wisdom and guidance as we seek the best way forward for them both.

With love and prayers.

Jane
