School holidays, the younger boys attend a club, dentist visits, exit meeting with the auditor
Sunday 11th May 2025
Dear friends,
Ryan and Kasita visited the dentist this week and both had teeth removed! Kasita’s was a wisdom tooth and Ryan’s a milk tooth – they felt sorry for themselves when Peace and I visited on Tuesday afternoon but had been given painkillers.
The younger boys were at a club two days this week focusing on ´a child is a leader of tomorrow.´ They seemed to be involved in lots of dancing and enjoying themselves. Benard went with them.
- The older boys have been busy as well – Joseph (Yusuf) crocheting, and trimming a tree.
- Musumba and Kasita on the internet studying for school projects.
- Kodet having extra tuition.
- Sula has been looking for hairdressing work locally to get more experience during the holidays and was given a hair clipper.
- Saidi, Dan and Brian have gone back to their villages. Dan’s older sister collected him from the taxi park as Tresor dropped them off.
- Tresor delivered food to Bethel’s family.
- Saviour and Joshua were hoping to visit their mum last weekend but then the programme changed as she had travelled.
- Victor and Saviour have both helped with the cooking and have asked for ingredients for baking cakes and cooking pizzas next week.
- Big Dennis has sent in his application to Gulu University.
- Tresor has gone off to Rwanda for the weekend – needing a break!
…..they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night. They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Psalm 1:2/3
Petra, Ken and I had an on line exit meeting with the auditor on Wednesday afternoon. We still have to improve on a few things! It is not always easy on a Monday to know exactly what money we will need for the week, especially if an emergency occurs. Also more paperwork needs to be done on the approving and authorising of online payments. At present Ken, Ian and I do that on WhatsApp but it’s not acceptable without paperwork.
Ken is now involved in helping me with my Work Permit which has still not been issued – I’m nearly giving up. It’s all to do with signatures on letters from the U.K. that they think have been pasted but they haven’t! Another problem being I don’t have any formal qualifications. (Only ‘O’ levels from 60 years ago!)
Ian visited George’s Place on Friday morning and organised with Benard a hike and picnic for the boys later this month.
The boys were at football this Saturday so I visited them in the afternoon. Three of the young ones hadn’t gone – Ryan, Ram and Denis, they were enjoying playing ludo, the football game and also washing the floors! On my way home I saw Big Brian, driving his Boda, he left our care about 5 years ago and told me he was working hard as his son had started school and he was needing school fees. He was fine and obviously doing well. It’s rained so much this week and also been cold at times but the sun is shining at present.
Thank you for all your love and support. We really could not do this work without you.
Love Jane x
