School holidays begin, the boys return! Patrick goes back to Rukungiri, Bethel’s father visits
Sunday 4th May 2025
Good morning friends,
Most of the boys are home from boarding school or college for the holidays – 3/4 weeks. Some arrived Wednesday and some on Thursday.
Tresor took Patrick to the dentist Wednesday where he had two teeth removed and measurements taken for his new teeth to be fitted in a months time. Patrick then travelled back to Rukungiri that day and arrived 4 am, he phoned me just after 7am the next morning to tell me he had arrived safely but his grandmother had been taken into hospital. Tresor also collected Brian and then Joshua from school. They both had really good end of term reports. Yusuf arrived safely from Don Bosco.
That day Peace, Petra and I visited George’s Place as Bethel’s father and his two younger brothers had arrived unexpectedly. Please be praying for this family from DRC, they have been in hospital suffering from trauma and stress for more than a year and were being moved back to the refugee camp but refused to go and came back to Kampala. I think the parents were hoping we might take the brothers but we are not registered to take refugees, we only have Bethel who was given to us through the Courts and although in our care we are unable to register him with the Ministry of Gender. We helped the family with transport and will deliver some food to them next week.
“But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation. I will sing the Lord’s praise, for he has been good to me.” Psalms 13:5-6
Kasita and Musumba came back on Thursday. Later that evening Dennis arrived from Gulu with a friend, he was collecting pass certificates from Maranatha and Bethany schools so that he can apply to the university. His friend stayed at Tresor’s home as we couldn’t have him at George’s Place. They left Friday morning after I had spoken to Dennis on the phone. After shopping Tresor collected Sula, Victor and Saviour – he’s had a busy week again! That morning I went to Interpol and collected my good behaviour certificate. Hopefully my work permit will go through shortly.
Following the camp, last Saturday, Derek went to Marjorine to collect his Graduation Certificate, (Tresor and Patrick took him after the first dental appointment). We had a lovely celebration at church last week as it was Debbie and Philip’s 40th wedding anniversary and they invited us all to lunch!
This weekend I have someone staying with me, Andrea, a lady from Germany who is teaching at a school in Luweero, we met at KIC and as she has a weekend off she has come to Kampala. Saturday morning was the Ladies fellowship at Christine’s and later I went to George’s Place to take the boy’s swimming, Andrea and Christine visited a Craft Market. We enjoyed supper together but I had not been sparing with the chillies and the stir fried chicken was very hot!
Saidi came 1st on his school report so he is very pleased with himself. Ram did very well and came 2nd in his class. From the reports all the boys are well behaved and trying to improve.
Griffin begins training at The Speke Hotel in Munyonyo next week. We’ve had lots of rain again. Benard is back, he had a few extra days off work as a relative had died. All is well but it’s busy and noisy during holiday times and some of the older boys have many requests!
Thank you for all your love and generosity,
Blessings.
