Sunday 18th June, 2023

Dear friends,

There has been very little news from Uganda this week. Though there was a panic last Monday morning when Dan disappeared from outside the gate. All the staff were looking for him and I had urgent messages but of course he came back when he was hungry and ate a large meal!

I spoke on Saturday evening to some of the boys. Tim told me he has been doing major work, as Gorette was off sick for three days and he prepared the food and cooked. He was pleased to see Halima today as she cooks at weekends. Some of the boys went to school this morning and will return later for extra tuition this evening.

For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being. Ephesians 3 v14/16

They are planning to go to a church service near Entebbe tomorrow afternoon as there is a special preacher coming. The boys elected not to go swimming this afternoon and to use the money to fix the DVD player so that they can watch a film this evening.

Ziwa has also been busy this week helping at George’s Place, with the digging of a hole on the outside wall, (Tim helped) as a drainage pipe had been blocked – it looks like him and Tim were digging their way in!

Tresor visited big Dennis at school today, as it was Visiting Day, Dennis has been elected by his school colleagues to be a spokesperson for the year ((I’ll see if I can find out exactly what he has to do). Peace’s husband (Revd. Canon Michael Mukhwana) was also at the school, involved in the opening of a new classroom block.

Tresor then visited Kodet, at school, he is unwell but on medication. The two schools are fairly near each other, Tresor took him to the clinic for tests but there was no infection, they just said he had ulcers (which is a normal diagnosis there) and are treating him. Prayers please for the boys in boarding, they have posho and beans nearly every day with little variation and sometimes they eat late at night. We give them a peanut paste to add to their meals but it doesn’t always last very long.

I had an opportunity to talk with Dan, little Dennis, Bethel (who was very chatty), Saidi, Tim, Joshua and Yusuf (Joseph) and of course Tresor. Some of them said they were missing me and of course I said how much I missed them too. They are all doing so well and it is a privilege to see how God is changing their lives and blessing them.
