28th August, 2022

Dear friends,

The office move went well last Monday and from the photos it looks like everything is set up and working. Sadly the two Julius’s will be leaving us but they are entitled to a month’s money for every year they worked for us and this could even help them set us a small business. Augustine stayed last weekend and also helped with the move.

The boys at George’s Place have been enjoying themselves for the last few days at the football academy and also in the nearby playground. The officials at the academy have asked Tresor to go and see them, he is not sure if they are interested in any of our boys joining but this will all need looking into.

“But Jesus called the children to him and said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” ‭‭Luke‬ ‭18:16‬ ‭

Yusuf and Griffin have spent some time at school preparing for their examinations and also Denis has been attending Jovens High School Entebbe, which is near to the home. Denis’s mother is coming for the weekend to see him, sadly the bus broke down and this has delayed her but she should be there by Saturday evening. Denis had been struggling since the unexpected death of his brother and hopefully seeing her will help him. (She kindly bought two chickens with her which I am sure the boys will enjoy.) I received a laptop for Denis from an organisation called ITSchools Africa which is really appreciated, I know he will be thrilled. Something else to try and squeeze into my luggage!

I heard from Flavia this week, one of the children she cares for, Lydia, who has sickle cell had fallen sick and ‘couldn’t feel her legs’, Flavia was at the hospital with her and didn’t have the money for the necessary tests and treatment, we sent some money to help out. Thankfully Lydia seems to be responding to treatment.

Tresor has been busy buying all the school supplies as the boys return to school and vocational training at the beginning of September. It will be a busy time as the older ones will be returning this week from the village and then going off to college and the younger ones who are still away will also be returning to go back to school.

This afternoon, Saturday, they have gone swimming and I had the opportunity of speaking with them. It was rather overcast and most of them were then out of the water, but so good to see them. Charles, tells me he should still be there when I return and is looking forward to meeting me. Ronald was saying he has put on weight over the holidays but he will lose it when he returns to college, they only eat posho and beans at college! Victor said the rabbit was sick and not taking it’s medication, so will probably die, I’ve given instructions not to eat it! Griffin, Yusuf, Joshua, Saviour and Denis were all good. Peanut is keeping well.

Time seems to be flying by, I do hope I will get the opportunity of seeing some of you next Sunday at the Afternoon Tea before I return on the 13th. Thank you for all your love and support.

Love Jane
